A Time-Continued Engine Capable of Running to its Recommended TBO…Again
During a factory overhaul, existing engine parts from similar or compatible engines that meet Lycoming's service allowable limits are reused where appropriate. There is, however, an automatic "throw it away and replace it" policy for any part that doesn't measure up. And, a number of specified critical parts are replaced with new parts, no questions asked.
It's important for you to know also, that with a Lycoming factory overhaul, the price you're quoted is the price you'll pay. There are no upcharges, no chargebacks, and no penalties for complete, assembled, active and operable exchange engine cores returned within the generous 4 months allowed.
Your factory overhauled Lycoming engine will comply with the latest configuration required by all Lycoming Service Bulletins and all FAA Airworthiness Directives at the time of overhaul.
The overhauled engine price includes the fuel metering system, ignition system and starter. On applicable models, the turbo-charging system (including exhaust system), alternator, engine-driven fuel pump and provisions for pneumatic and hydraulic pump drives are included.
The engine is reassembled with totally new cylinder assemblies and many other new Lycoming parts not normally installed by other overhaulers.
There's another benefit to a genuine Lycoming factory overhaul: The time-continued engine is capable of running to its recommended TBO again … backed by a factory warranty for parts and labor for a full year from the time you fire it up, regardless of the number of hours flown. And, your warranty will be honored at any authorized Lycoming Distributor worldwide.
The term "overhauled" is used by Lycoming to describe a factory overhauled piston engine that is time-continued. The definition is not intended to contradict any authorized manual, or any FAR or FAA authorized publication.
