This Service Instruction is in response to incorrectly marked alternator belts having reached the field on engines or as spare parts.
 

Lycoming has discovered that a population of 37C28529-955 alternator belts were released to the field identified as 37C28529-955-Y. These belts may be installed on engines or received as spare parts through Lycoming Distributors.
 

These alternator belts marked with a -Y suffix (see attached) are production parts and acceptable for use.
