See attached list for engine models and serial numbers. Spares with part numbers 56A22634-01 and 56A22634-02 that were shipped from Lycoming between June 21, 2002 and April 17, 2003 are also affected by this Service Bulletin.

Supplement No. 5 to Service Bulletin No. 554

Supplement No. 5 to Service Bulletin No. 554 does not supersede Supplement No. 3 to Service Bulletin No. 554 or Supplement No. 4 to Service Bulletin No. 554.

After extensive and thorough search of all engine and gear bolt records, Lycoming has determined that there are an additional 161 engines that could possibly have one of the suspect bolts. This Supplement No. 5 to Service Bulletin No. 554 is issued to ensure that these bolts are replaced.

All Lycoming Direct Drive aircraft engines equipped with a propeller governor.

TIME OF COMPLIANCE

1. Whenever sluggish propeller action is reported.

2. Whenever the engine does not hold RPM during cruise, climb or descent.

3. Whenever the engine is going into feather during landing roll out with reduced throttle setting.

TIME OF COMPLIANCE

Half way to recommended TBO or at 1000 hours of operation, whichever occurs first or earlier at owner’s discretion or anytime valve sticking is suspected.

This Service Bulletin applies to new, rebuilt, overhauled or repaired Lycoming fuel injected engines shipped from Lycoming between January 30, 2003 and May 5, 2003 equipped with Precision Airmotive Corporation fuel injection servos, Model RSA-5 or RSA-10 identified in Precision Service Bulletin No. PRS-105. Fuel injected engines are identified by the letter “I” in the prefix.
