Supplement No. 4 to Service Bulletin No. 554

DATE: April 2, 2003

The AMOC (see attached) accepts the following Lycoming kits for compliance with AD #2002-23-06:

  • 05K23325 – TIO/LTIO-540-J2B
  • 05K23326 – TIO-540-A2B, -A2C 05K23327 – TIO-540-AJ1A
  • 05K23335 – TIO-540-AE2A
  • 05K23336 – TIO-540-AH1A

Check the engine logbook. If the logbook states that Service Bulletin No. 554 was complied with at Lycoming, then an improved cadmium-plated crankshaft gear bolt has been installed and is not affected by AD #2002-23-06.

All Lycoming direct drive piston aircraft engines (including VO-360 and IVO-360; excepting O-320-H, O-360-E, LO-360-E, TO-360-E, LTO-360-E, and TIO-541 series engines).

TIME OF COMPLIANCE

During overhaul, after a propeller strike, or whenever crankshaft gear removal is required.

Service Bulletin No. 556

NOTE: Service Bulletin No. 556 affects any engine that has had P/N LW-11201 washers field replaced with P/N LW-11201 washers shipped 2/1/99 through 6/25/02 as spares, regardless of whether or not the engine serial number is listed in Table 1.

Supplement No. 1 to Service Bulletin No. 553

DATE: December 16, 2002

Supplement No. 1 to Lycoming Service Bulletin No. 553 provides the following additions or revisions:

1. Specific numbering information will assist in the identification of affected crankshafts. Lycoming crankshaft serial numbers are in one of the following formats:

a. “V5379” followed by 4 or 5 digits (1997 to present.)

b. An “I” followed by 5 digits (1996 – 1997.)

c. A “V” followed by a number of from 3 to 5 digits (1985 – 1996.)

d. A number of from 3 to 5 digits (pre 1985.)
